Eurotherm Controls, Reston, Virginia, a principal supplier of process controllers and Matrikon Consulting, Edmonton, Alberta, a process control solution provider announced a partnership to market the jointly developed OPC Server for Eurotherm 800 Series Controllers.
"We chose Matrikon to help us develop this server because of their vast experience with a variety of OPC applications," said John Walsh, director of distribution at Eurotherm. "The resulting server is very fast, reliable and robust."
"We are pleased to have worked with Eurotherm to develop this interface," said OPC Product Manager at Matrikon. "This partnership reinforces Matrikon's position as the leading custom interface developer for the process control industry."
Matrikon's OPC Server for Eurotherm enables communication between Eurotherm 800 Series Controllers (808, 847, 849, 818S and 818P) and any OPC (OLE for Process Control) client using EI-Bisync Protocol. The server provides read/write and reset access to all available device parameters and supports up to 32 devices per communication port.
Based on Microsoft technology, OPC is a protocol designed to bridge Windows-based applications and process control hardware. It is an open standard that permits a consistent method of accessing field data from plant floor devices. OPC technology enables end-users to choose the software and hardware that meets their primary production needs, without having to consider the availability of proprietary drivers.
Eurotherm is a global organization with market leading products for industrial and process automation. It is a member of the Invensys group of companies.
Matrikon is the international leader in developing interfaces for the process control industry. Its head office is in Edmonton, with satellite offices in Calgary, Alberta, Vancouver BC, White Plains NY, and St. Louis, MO.
