This MatrikonOPC Server for ABB Enterprise Historian provides OPC access to ABB controllers via the ABB Enterprise Historian. The OPC Server communicates with ABB Enterprise Historian on a Windows PC by using the AdvaInform API and provides access to real-time data (i.e. the latest data captured by Enterprise Historian). The OPC server is able to exchange (read and write) all data points with the ABB Enterprise Historian.
The MatrikonOPC server protects the associated ABB controllers from being overwhelmed by OPC application because it ensures that the ABB Enterprise Historian buffers all read requests instead of passing them directly to the controllers. The MatrikonOPC server further optimizes communication by grouping multiple read requests into a single request to the ABB Enterprise Historian.
