Overview

Participants discuss how OPC technology can be properly implemented and maintained between various systems in the plant and corporate environments.

Objectives:

Implementing data access across various corporate layers
Learn about various OPC Applications (redundancy, data management, store and forward, and DMZ)
Work with the levels of redundancy, their affects on the system and how to integrate it
Understand how OPC components can be used to build efficient and flexible systems
Understand how risk assessment and risk mitigation plans of critical data architectures aid in successful OPC deployment
Optimizing production, tracking and extracting business value from data

The workshop will be made up of lectures, PowerPoint presentations, and hands-on exercises. It will be an open and friendly environment that encourages discussion and participation. Students are welcome to discuss current connectivity issues they are faced with and learn from one another.

Instructor Information


Chris Carew

	Languages: English, French Over the course of a 30+ year career, Chris has worked as a trainer in both the Royal Canadian Air Force and civilian industry. In addition to his Training roles, he has worked as a technician in the avionics, computer, and process control environments. In the Lead Trainer role at MatrikonOPC, Chris has been responsible for executing the OPC Workshops, development of the OPC training material and certification of OPC trainers both within MatrikonOPC and amongst our training partners. Over the past 4 years, Chris has circled the globe, delivering OPC training to customers in industries as varied as automobile manufacturing, oil and gas, and wind turbine power generation.
