An article published in the July 2004 issue of Nuclear News outlines how the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Buchanan, NY approached plant monitoring to ensure public and environmental safety.
The infrastructure took advantage of the MatrikonOPC Server for SCADA Modbus where it was configured to interface with a SCADAPack RTU. To ensure reliable communication, the OPC Server was configured to use redundant communication channels. The primary channel was radio with a fail-over to frame relay.
With OSI PI as the main process historian, Matrikon’s ProcessNet web-visualization application would pull historical data from the historian and real-time data from the OPC Server.
