Overview
High Oil prices and global warming are forcing people to take a more serious look at renewable energy sources such as wind power.
Wind power installations have unique challenges associated with geographic disperse locations of multiple generating stations. The problem that arises is guaranteeing secure data transfer to a central location for monitoring and to make more effective production decisions.
Looking at this objectively, it is a huge problem. Wind farm systems may contain up to hundreds of windmills, covering long distances and often in areas with harsh environments. Users need a reliable communication network capable of providing standardized information monitoring and centralized control and data storage. OPC technology is the answer.
This webcast examines OPC architectures for Wind Farms. Attendees will learn:
- Basic overview of OPC technology
- How OPC provides interoperability between disparate control systems
- How OPC DA provides plug-and-play connectivity between wind farm data sources
- The advantages of "buffering"
- Guaranteed data delivery architectures using OPC HDA
- The business value of implementing OPC
Upon completion of this webcast, attendees will walk away with a good understanding of how using OPC HDA technology guarantees that data is always available, regardless of how hard the wind is blowing.
