Problem: How can I move my software license to a new machine? |
Solution:
First, we must de-license the software on the old machine. To do so, please walk through the following steps:
1. Go to the server install directory (C:\Program Files\Matrikon\OPC\Modbus by default) 2. Send the RemoveRequest.mtk file from this directory to opc.license@matrikon.com. 3. The Licensing Team will respond with a Remove.mtk file. Move this file to the server install directory. 4. Go to 'Start->Programs->MatrikonOPC->Modbus->MatrikonOPC Licensing Utility' 5. Select the 'De-license this software' button. 6. Under 'Authorization File Path', enter the location of the Remove.mtk file. 7. Click OK. 8. In the install directory, a RemoveValidate.mtk file has been created. Send this file to opc.license@matrikon.com.
The software has now been de-licensed on the old machine. Now license the software normally on the new machine by walking through the following steps:
1. Install the software on the new machine. 2. Go to the server install directory (C:\Program Files\Matrikon\OPC\Modbus by default) 3. Take the AuthorizeRequest.mtk file from this directory and send it to opc.license@matrikon.com. 4. The Licensing Team will respond with an Authorize.mtk file. Place this file in the server install directory. 5. Open the Matrikon Licensing Utility from 'Start->Programs->MatrikonOPC->Modbus->MatrikonOPC Licensing Utility' 6. Select the 'License this Software' button. Ensure that the 'Authorization File Path' points to your Authorize.mtk file. 7. Click OK. 8. A message will appear on the screen confirming that your OPC Server has been licensed successfully.
If you are having trouble with these steps, please download the latest version of the Licensing Utility and extract the file to C:\Program Files\Common Files\MatrikonOPC\Common (if this directory does not exist, place the file in C:\Program Files\Matrikon\OPC\Common).
