Problem:
How will the change in Daylight Savings Time affect my MatrikonOPC Products?

Solution:

In accordance with the OPC Specification, all MatrikonOPC Software uses UTC (Universal Time Co-ordinated) for data transfer.  UTC does not use Daylight savings time. As such, the actual data will not be affected by the OPC Software. As specified in the OPC Specification, it is up to the Client to determine how it will display the time sent to it by an OPC Server. The OPC Specification dictates that the OPC Client will use the system time to convert between UTC and the local time zone. This means that if the time displayed in Windows is correct, the time displayed in the Client should be correct.

If you are using a third-party OPC application, and this software is not OPC Compliant, there is a chance it will be adversely affected by the time difference. However, all MatrikonOPC Software will properly manage the change in Daylight savings time.
