Desktop Historian

 

Problem:
How should I upgrade Desktop Historian?

Solution:
Walk through the following steps:

1. At the 'Start->Run' prompt, type: services.msc
2. Disable and stop the 'MatrikonOPC Desktop Historian', 'MatrikonOPC Desktop Historian OPC Client' and 'MatrikonOPC Server for Desktop Historian' services.
3. Close the services panel.
4. Copy your historical data to a safe location. By default, this data is located in C:\matrikon data.
5. Copy the files in C:\Program Files\Matrikon\OPC\Desktop Historian\Database to a safe location. These files represent your tag lists.
6. Uninstall Desktop Historian from Add/Remove Programs.
7. Install the new version of Desktop Historian. Your licensing will not be affected.

The upgrade should not modify your database or historical files. If this does happen, contact our support group immediately and inform them of the problem. They will work with you to get the system running correctly.
