The OPC Server for Fisher-Rosemount (Emerson Process Control) RS3 uses the RNI (Rosemount Network Interface) to access RS3 process data as well as alarms and events. This server can be used for supervisory control and also for data acquisition and storage. Since the server also captures all operator actions and process events, it can be used by database applications to archive system alarms and events for later analysis.

Unlike other RS3 RNI interfaces, the OPC Server for RS3 RNI from MatrikonOPC does not require any additional proprietary hardware solutions to access your data. This OPC Server is the ONLY connectivity recommend by Emerson to connect to the RS3 system. This OPC Server guarantees access to all the data you need.

Unique Features of the OPC Server for Fisher-Rosemount RS3 RNI:
  • OPC A&E support
  • Enables Read and Write access to RS3 Control Blocks and I/O Block fields.
  • Enables access to the Control file status information.
  • Configurable polling rate restrictions to prevent excessive network loading
  • Supports extensive error tracking and management.
  • Built in Redundancy
  • Tag Browse Capabilities
  • Easy Connection directly to the RNI
  • User friendly user interface
  • Connect to multiple DCS on one pathway
The OPC Server for Fisher-Rosemount RS3 RNI features the following advanced functions:

OPC Security
: It natively supports the OPC Foundation's OPC Security specification. This functionality is crucial for implementing secure OPC architectures. Instead of relying on global, DCOM based,  "all-or-nothing" OPC data access permissions, this MatrikonOPC Framework™ function offers complete control over item browsing, adding, reading, and writing - on a per-user-per-item basis. This helps prevent accidental and intentional un-authorized OPC data access.

Offline Mode
: developed to aid system-integration; this functionality simplifies OPC Server configuration by allowing OPC Clients to access data from all configured OPC items even when the underlying data-source is not available. For example: during plant commissioning;  instead of delaying HMI graphic screen testing until the end of the project, when all the OPC Servers' data-sources are available - such tests can now be run at any time using the Offline Mode random test data.

Device Level Redundancy:
This function makes it possible to maximize OPC data reliability by enabling the OPC Server to access multiple data-sources in a redundant fashion without the need for specialized hardware and/or additional custom software.
