Message from Tom Burke, President, OPC Foundation
Throughout my years with the OPC Foundation, I have had the great delight of speaking with users from various industries and geographical locations. They have shared their pains and successes with me. There have been those who love OPC and those that needed a little more help to get things going.
I am proud to say that the OPC Foundation has been listening. This past year has been very exciting. As you know, OPC UA (Unified Architecture) is picking up momentum. I have been traveling around the world to pontificate the advantages of the new architecture. I believe that OPC UA will satiate the demands of most vendors, integrators, and user alike. OPC UA is an excellent add-on to the current DCOM-based OPC technology.
The MatrikonOPC Users Group is an exceptional venue to learn about innovations in OPC technology. Please take the time to speak with other users and share your experience with them. Talk to the integrators and vendors to find out what is next on their development horizon.
Most important, please don’t forget to share your requirements and experience with me as well! I want to find out about your implementations and how OPC affects your business. Let me help you drive the future of connectivity.
Thomas Burke President OPC Foundation
Message from MatrikonOPC VP of OPC Products – Sean Leonard
In a blink of an eye, raw material costs increase, there’s a labor shortage and your competitor reduces their prices. Business pressures quickly seep into the manufacturing world and suddenly you need to react. But with many disparate systems housing many information silos, how can you possibly ensure your organization’s crucial proliferation?
Business agility, and ultimately, success, depends on getting the right information to the right people at the right time. No matter what system you select, the key to victory is to standardize on one technology for data transfer. A single vendor will never rule the world, and a single system will no longer suffice for all aspects of your business. A best of breed approach is here to stay. OPC is the standard most organizations selected for the application-level data transfer. OPC is driving standards based connectivity.
The MatrikonOPC Users Group provides a unique opportunity for you to share your experience with others. Learn from the mistakes they made, and pick up the best practices they implemented.
Take the time to network with your peers and learn how OPC can help your business. I am sure you will find this conference fun and informative. I look forward to meeting with you in Singapore.
Sincerely,
Sean Leonard Vp of OPC MatrikonOPC
